A curated reference universe of major organisations shaping business across Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain. The set includes operating companies, sovereign investors, banks, energy groups, technology businesses and infrastructure operators that are sufficiently important to Gulf commerce to merit a persistent reference page even before Gulf Business Review has accumulated multiple articles about each organisation.

The purpose of this database is to make the publication's company and institution layer explicit. Gulf markets are unusually shaped by the interaction between listed companies, state-owned enterprises, sovereign funds, infrastructure operators and national champions. A company can therefore be highly significant to the regional business system before it has appeared repeatedly in the news archive.

The database separates reference significance from article volume. Entities with extensive reporting display that coverage on their persistent pages. Entities with little or no reporting remain clearly labelled as curated references until the archive grows around them.

Inclusion methodology

An organisation can enter this reference set through either sustained coverage or curated regional significance. Curated significance is used when an organisation is a major national or regional company, sovereign investment institution, bank, infrastructure operator, technology platform or other business actor whose scale or structural role makes it a recurring reference point for readers. A first-party corporate or institutional source is required before the reference page is activated.

The database does not assign current revenue, valuation, employee counts, assets under management or project status unless those figures are separately maintained in dated reporting or another sourced dataset. This avoids turning a permanent reference page into an undated financial snapshot.

Country is based on the organisation's principal Gulf identity for this reference set. It does not imply that the organisation operates only in that market. Sector labels are intentionally broad and are designed for navigation rather than formal industry classification.
